Manuel  Morais
Manuel Morais, 83, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Maria Virginia (Figueiredo) Morais, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, August 22nd, 2016. Born in Santa Maria Azores, Portugal; he came to Hartford in 1967. He retired from St. Francis Hospital, Hartford after 25 years of service. He was a parishioner and Cursilhista of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford, and one of the founders of the Holy Ghost Society, East Hartford. His greatest joy was the annual festivities of "Espirito Santo".


Besides his wife, Manuel leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Eduarda and Adriano Mendes of West Hartford, and Lucy and Manuel Resendes of Pooler, GA; his sister Lidia Bairos of Rocky Hill. His pride and joy were his three grandsons Kyle and Justin Resendes and Bandon Mendes whom he loved dearly. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.


The family would like to thank the medical staff at St. Francis Hospital, including Dr. Philip Karanian and Hartford Home Health Care for all the compassion expressed during his illness; and all who visited him with support to his family.


Funeral procession will be Friday, at 9:00 am from Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Our Lady Fatima Church. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling Hours will be Thursday, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
